MEET THE TEAM
Dan Elcan founded Elcan and Associates in 1984, driven by his passion for real estate development. From 1984 to 1992, Elcan and Associates contracted with Rex American Resources to open over 235 REX Audio Video and Appliance stores across 23 states. After REX shifted its focus away from retail, and in 1992, Elcan and Associates began developing freestanding Dollar Tree stores. Since the first store in Florence, Alabama, Elcan and Associates, has built over 300 Dollar Tree Stores, from California to Maine and Montana to Florida. To this day, Elcan and Associates builds 30 to 50 Dollar Trees each year.
In 2010, Elcan and Associates began diversifying into multiple other development markets besides retail. Over the last 15 years, Elcan and Associates has successfully delivered a wide range of mixed-use developments including industrial warehouses, residential neighborhoods, and multifamily housing. Since 1984 Elcan and Associates has completed real estate developments totaling over $1.1 Billion.

Jon Sonju was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana, and is a graduate of Flathead High School. He has strong family roots in the Flathead Valley and a deep commitment to the community.
With over 20 years of business experience, Jon served as an executive at Sonju Industrial, a manufacturing company based in Kalispell. He also spent 10 years as a Montana State Legislator, serving in both the House of Representatives and the State Senate.
This blend of business and legislative experience led him to GKN Aerospace, where he served as the U.S. Head of Government Affairs for North America. His deep understanding of the political process, extensive network of key decision-makers, and strong relationships across the defense industry have been instrumental in his work.
Jon now works as an independent government affairs consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University Billings.
Frank Garner was raised in Kalispell where he attended and graduated from Flathead High School and Flathead Valley Community College. Frank went on to join the Kalispell Police Department in the mid-1980s where he served as patrol officer, drug team agent, SWAT team leader, detective and as the Chief of Police. After raising his family in Kalispell and serving more than two decades with the department, he went on to serve for a year as a police trainer and mentor in war-torn Afghanistan.
It was following that service that Frank joined Northwest Healthcare (now Logan Health) where he served nearly ten years as a department manager and as Chief of Security. Along the way, Frank has worked with several community organizations including Big Brothers and Sisters, Rotary, Lions, FVCC’s Foundation Board and the ABS youth sports complex in Evergreen. In addition, Frank most recently completed serving 4 terms in the Montana House of Representatives as the Representative for Kalispell’s House District 7.
Frank has received extensive training and experience in his nonprofit, government, security and healthcare roles in strategic planning designed to help execute winning strategies that support and improve the mission of groups and organizations.
With nearly four decades of experience across every facet of real estate, Pat Coffey is a seasoned executive and operator known for building, managing, and turning around multifamily and mixed-use assets across the Southeast. As CEO and owner of Multifamily Management, Inc., he leads a multi-state apartment management company overseeing 5,000 units, 30 locations, and a team of 120 employees. His background spans operations, finance, construction, insurance, and special asset resolution, giving him a uniquely well-rounded perspective on the industry.
Prior to founding his company in 2006 through a leveraged buyout, Coffey held executive roles at The Mitchell Company and Altus Bank, where he oversaw real estate operations, managed multimillion-dollar portfolios, and led the resolution of over $120 million in problem assets. Over the years, he has participated in the development and ownership of more than 2,500 apartment units and helped bring over 700 single-family lots to market. His track record of strategic leadership, disciplined growth, and hands-on operational oversight has made him a trusted name in multifamily real estate.
Christie Amezquita is an accomplished real estate professional and one of the partners of the Houston SHOP Companies office, which launched in 2018. SHOP Companies is a boutique real estate firm with offices in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City, specializing in landlord and tenant representation, sales, investment sales, and developments on a national scale.
With nearly three decades of experience in commercial real estate, Christie has gained significant expertise in development, landlord and tenant representation, and sales across various regions. She has a proven track record in developments, ranging from neighborhood
shopping centers to mixed-use properties, including ground-up projects. Christie’s deep industry knowledge allows her to offer advisory and consulting services to a wide range of projects, from new developments to redevelopments and remerchandising of existing properties. Her strong relationships with retailers, landlords, and developers, combined with her creative merchandising strategies and market insights, have helped her build long-lasting partnerships in the industry.
Christie began her career in commercial real estate in 1996 with Trammell Crow Company in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1999, she relocated to Mobile, Alabama, where she worked for a developer until 2007, overseeing retail center developments across the Florida Panhandle, Alabama,
Mississippi, and Louisiana. She returned to Houston in 2008 and joined Read King, where she made a significant impact in their brokerage group for the next decade.She became a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) in 2006 and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Texas Association of Realtors (TAR), and the National Association of Realtors
(NAR). Additionally, Christie is deeply involved in her community and serves on the Real Estate Committee at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Her exceptional work has earned her recognition, including being named a Houston Business Journal Heavy Hitter in 2015, 2016,and 2017.
Reid Fawcett has spent his entire professional career in the real estate industry, starting in 2015. Working for Capital Growth Buchalter, Inc. in a satellite office in Nashville, TN, he learned the basics of real estate development and brokerage by performing site selection and developing stores for clients such as Mattress Firm and Dollar General across the Southeast. In 2017 he accepted a job with Elcan and Associates, Inc., a full-service real estate firm based in Mobile, Alabama where he still works today. Reid has a proven track record of managing over 50 Dollar Tree retail store developments from inception to completion. At present he is still actively managing Dollar Tree retail developments and runs the financial analysis and feasibility for all Elcan and Associates projects which include retail, residential, multifamily, and industrial
real estate ventures.
Reid tested for and received his real estate salesperson license in the State of Tennessee and in the State of Alabama. He became a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) in 2022 and has been the Qualifying Broker of Elcan and Associates brokerage services since 2023.
